It’s Been A While!

Yamel December 2nd, 2010

I’m sure no one follows or checks up on my blog anymore, especially with Facebook now dominating the online social scene where everyone has the opportunity to create a Web presence. Even businesses have a Facebook site! The days of personal Websites/Blogs are almost a thing of the past. Let’s face it, Facebook makes it so easy to post and keep connected. The question now is what to do with this site? Hmm…

Interestingly, I posted my goal of getting into dental school several years ago on a site called 43things.com and followed up with updates on how I got in to Loma Linda Dental. Unsuspectingly, I’ve made quite a following with lots of questions and responses from eager dental school applicants, especially ones dealing with the similar problems I dealt with during my application period. So, why do I mention this?

One idea I have is to convert this site into a dental school blog where the topic relates to dental school admittance and life of a dental student. The thing is that once I’m out of dental school my concept may change to more current issues, especially with my career about to unfold in the US Navy.

Another idea for this site is to convert it totally into my future dental practice’s official Website. I’d have to change the name, etc… I don’t know.

Or, I can leave it as is; my personal site where I can post whatever I like, whenever I like, as random as can be. Of course, I’ll have no followers, but at least it will keep my HTML enjoyment in check.

Thought of the moment: It almost feels like I’m writing a diary… no one out there except my thoughts on the screen… what to do?

The Backyard with Amelie ~1 Year

We’re Officially D3′s

I just started my first day as a third-year dental student at Loma Linda. This summer quarter has a notorious consensus among the upperclassmen for being very stressful. The reason is that we now see patients twice a week in addition to our academic load. Most of the stress will come from learning the ropes in clinic and in dealing with long hours in lab after school as we produce the products that our patients need (crowns, bridges, dentures, etc.)

It will be a great learning experience! Loma Linda Dental is known for producing very good clinicians. In fact, after just taking the National Boards Dental Exam part 1, I was impressed how well we’ve been taught. As with any institution there are cons, but I must say the pros are nicely overweighted.

As a side note, I hope to update my blog notes more frequently. I realized that I enjoy going back and reading my posts. It’s like keeping a diary. I also want to take more photos, but I think the photo-taking will be slow as usual. Here’s a photo I took this winter of my school’s campus church. Go ahead, click the photo.
